The Palmer Fund, Inc. has been in existence for approximately six years, and provided over $15,000 in scholarships to youth either attending Yale University, or graduating from a Howard High School. It was established to honor the late Charles H. Palmer, Jr. Upon the sudden passing of Charles, his family and friends decided they would like to honor his legacy in a way that would exemplify his passion for education, the community and the further development of students. The theme scripture for the fund comes from Genesis 50:20 which includes the following statement: "...but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives" (NIV) As one of the funds key initiatives, book scholarships will be provided to selected applicants within the Howard County School System.
